Rebooting with Animals ~ The Journey ~ Step 3

Step 3~We all hide in a shell sometimes. Come outside the shell and find yourself and live! Those first steps are hard, but it gets easier and easier and once you find yourself you’ll enjoy everything around you. And your animals will enjoy you more. All our emotions and stress take a toll on them too!

“I lived inside a shell. It’s the only place I felt safe. When I found myself outside that shell I found myself in a cruel world full of ugliness that caused me pain. I never saw any love or good.

One day I was outside my shell and I heard a sound that was familiar to me and brought a warm feeling to my heart. There in front of me stood a draft horse. He was majestic but I could feel he was in pain. As he came closer to me I noticed, though he tried not to show it, he had a slight limp so I decided to look at his foot. He didn’t want to pick it up at first. I could see he was afraid of my shell, so I pushed it and it rolled down the hill and shattered into little pieces. At that point he lifted his foot for me and we worked together and found a way to heal the damage done inside the hoof.

My shell was gone so I had to take a deep breath and walk on uncharted ground. I felt safe with my new friend beside me. As we walked he introduced me to his friends. There were other horses, steers, miniature horses, donkeys, llamas, sheep, goats, pigs and fowl of all kinds.

We stopped in front of a gate and he tossed his head telling me to go in. As I walked in I felt a sadness as I looked down at this precious little goat who had so much life and wisdom in her eyes. Within myself I saw her story and it made me angry that she was crippled because of what a human did. Yet, I continued to look in her eyes and I saw forgiveness and the healing their.

Her spirit spoke to mine and said we can’t heal til we forgive all who wronged us, so I did. And in that moment I forgave everyone that ever hurt me and found freedom because they no longer had a hold on me.

I knew I was there to help heal the little goat, but she gave me the greatest gift first, my own healing! I looked back to the draft horse who neighed softly then walked away. I thought to myself Curley (the little goat) is worthy to be loved and healed. Then another thought came to me that I was worthy to be healed and loved too.

Suddenly the fears that kept me bound were gone and I could see all the beauty around me again. I realized it had been there all along but I had let unforgiveness and low self worth shut me away from it.

Today I am healed of that and I know I AM Worthy to be Love By The Universal and everyone and everything in it.

In my pics meet Curley, my little crippled goat, and Danny the draft horse who has a sense of humor too. These are just some of the animals that opened my eyes to living life again!”

The Journey ~ It’s Never Too Late!

As long as you’re there for the sunrise it’s not too late!!! Read the paragraph below and really think about it today!

“I think midlife is when the universe gently places her hands upon your shoulders, pulls you close, and whispers in your ear: I’m not screwing around. It’s time. All of this pretending and performing – these coping mechanisms that you’ve developed to protect yourself from feeling inadequate and getting hurt – has to go. Your armor is preventing you from growing into your gifts. I understand that you needed these protections when you were small. I understand that you believed your armor could help you secure all of the things you needed to feel worthy of love and belonging, but you’re still searching and you’re more lost than ever. Time is growing short. There are unexplored adventures ahead of you. You can’t live the rest of your life worried about what other people think. You were born worthy of love and belonging. Courage and daring are coursing through you. You were made to live and love with your whole heart. It’s time to show up and be seen.”

Helpful Hint~When You Aren’t Making Progress Take This Pledge and Live It!

Sometimes it feels like we’re not getting anywhere. There’s times we just need to be still and though we don’t see changes they’re happening within us. Take the time to enjoy nature and let what needs to change inside change until you learn to be at peace. That peace is so important for our healing and the animals we love and work with. A lot of times when they act out, it’s not really them it’s us. If they feel us frustrated or stressed it makes them that way too. So, when you spend time with them let yourself breathe and concentrate just on them let the other thoughts go. This is the time for the two of you not the worries of the world.

Take the Pledge and Live It

Positivity Pledge – I shall no longer allow negative thoughts or feelings to drain me of my energy. Instead I shall focus on all the good that is in my Life. I will think it, feel it and speak it. By doing so I will send out vibes of positive energy into the world and I shall be Grateful for all the wonderful things it will attract into my Life.

Rebooting with Animals ~ Step 3 of the Journey

One of the teachings I’m taking classes in right now is Reiki. To help in your journey I think it helps to follow Reiki’s basic principles no matter what your religious preference or beliefs.

Reiki Principles
Just for Today…

  1. I will not be angry
  2. I will not worry
  3. I will be grateful
  4. I will do my work diligently
  5. I will be kind to every living thing

If you start your day telling yourself just for today and do you best to follow these principles you’ll be amazed at the difference in your life.  That doesn’t mean you won’t slip during the day, just pick yourself up and get back on track.

So, you ask how does this help with Rebooting with Animals. Remember, the healing goes both directions. The better you are the more you can help them heal!

Rebooting with Animals ~ Step 2 of the Journey

Have you been practicing Step 1? If not there’s no better time than the present to start. As long as we’re here on this dust ball it’s not too late.

Today we want to start to make a connection with at least one animal. It can be subtle at first. And remember not all connections are touch. Usually they result in touch but not always.

Steps for Step 2:

  1. If you’re at all stressed please do the exercise in Step 2 and even if you’re not it puts you in a good place to be with your animal.
  2. Find a quiet place where to be with the animals you’re with.
  3. Go to him/her and sit beside them. Don’t touch them yet.
  4. In your heart tell the animal you love them. (You can say it out loud too.)
  5. While you’re saying I love you make sure your actions are matching your words.
  6. Spend at least ten minutes doing this.
  7. Let your animal lead the contact. Pay close attention to their body language. Examples can be:
    1. Putting their head under your hand.
    2. Tapping you with their foot.
    3. Sometimes it’s “the look.”
    4. ….
  8. Follow their clues and give them the attention they want the way they want it.
  9. The longer you do it the better the results and persistence. Do it at least once a day.

Hint: Make sure you keep other thoughts out of your head during this exercise (we’ll learn more on doing that later) just concentrate on saying I love you to the animal.

Rebooting with Animals ~ Step 1 of The Journey

Healing is a journey. If you’re here you either know you need healing or your animal needs healing. Honestly, you both do.

Did you know that a lot of the time when an animal is stressed it’s feeding off of us? This can work in reverse too. So, healing is a two way street. What’s important is that we make both lanes run smoothly. Easier said than done!

It sounds worse than it is. We’re going to take this journey in baby steps. Most of us don’t have a lot of times so this allows us to fit it into our schedules.

First you have to have an open mind. Some of the exercises may seem silly and you’ll ask “How is that going to benefit either of us?” But, if you stick with it believing there will be end results, over time you’ll see a change in both of you. Most of the time big changes. We’re so used to living stressed and other self caused aliments they’ve become normal to us.

For Step 1 of this journey I want you to take five minutes and follow the simple steps below:

  1. Find a quiet spot and sit or lay down
  2. Close your eyes and allow yourself to breathe in and out slowly.
  3. Put your focus on the breathing.
  4. Thoughts will come into your head sometimes, if they do tell yourself I’ll deal with them later.
  5. Let the thoughts flow out (this may take practice as we’re not used to truly relaxing.)
  6. At the end of the five minutes or longer if you like tell yourself “I deserve to do this time daily.”

So, not you may ask “How does this have anything to do with healing with animals? To open yourself up so they can help you or you can help them. You have to calm yourself and set aside all the problems of your world. Just like a runner prepares themselves for a race you have to prepare yourself to reboot.

Homework

Do the above daily. Take that five minutes, you deserve it!
